I love Vocaloid and I love vocal synthesizers! Here's a fun little semi-informative list of some of my favourite voicebanks.

KASANE TETO....!

Programs: UTAU/Synthesizer V AI
First released: April 1st, 2008
Voice provider: Oyamano Mayo

Teto has always been my favourite. Teto will always be my favourite. UTAU is something that's been near and dear to my heart for a decade now, and Teto is pretty much the face of it, being the first real voiced UTAU and by far the most famous. She's also just the best. For an April Fool's joke like Teto to get as big as she's gotten just because of how much everyone loves her has made my heart very happy. And then she got a fancy professional voicebank!!!!

I was actually worried leading up to the release of her SynthV. At the time, SynthV wasn't as widely used as it is today, and I was kind of worried she'd be popular for a month or so and then forgotten. We are now 2 years in and Teto is absolutely EVERYWHERE. She is practically a household name at this point. Some people may be tired of her, but as someone who's been a fan of Teto since she had barely any notable original songs, it's amazing that she has so many now. She spent so long trying to be famous, and now she is... Shouldn't we be proud of her. Let's be proud of her.

Her SynthV voicebank is great, but her UTAU voicebank is just my favouritest ever... I just like voicebanks more the less human they sound, as may become obvious from this page. I think her UTAU voicebank just has a fun little edge to it. I also just see it used in more interesting ways than her SynthV bank, but there's still great things being made with both.

Favourite songs!
Adachi Rei

Programs: UTAU, Replivoice
First released: October 12th, 2019
Voice Provider: N/A

Adachi Rei is so fun! She is an artificial voicebank made entirely in Audacity, and she was meant to sound robotic and choppy, as she was made for a real life robot. Her voice is really unique as a result. Her popularity has gone up a LOT in the past year or two, largely thanks to a few big songs using her (you know the one.). I discovered her back in 2022 and it was an instant brain connection. I love robots, I love orange, I love everything about her design. She is just so so cute....

I do think it's amazing she's gotten popular. It makes me happy. Vocal synthesizer programs are becoming more and more real-sounding these days, and that's super cool! But I'm happy there's people who still want to use less realistic vsynths. And I won't lie, her voice is rough. It can be hard to work with. I have tried... But so many people have made really amazing stuff with her, I think she's brought a lot of creativity to the scene. I completely understand why her voice may not be everyones thing, but I really love Adachi Rei. Robot Girl Forever.

There's no one quite like her...

My favourite songs!
Otomachi Una

Programs: Vocaloid(4+6), SynthV
First released: July 30th, 2016
Voice Provider: Aimi Tanaka

Our dearly beloved eelgirl!!! Una is probably my favourite actual Vocaloid voicebank. She's just the best. Her voice is so unique and so impressive and I feel like it can be used for so many things so well. Una is also one of the first voicebanks I remember releasing while I was a Vocaloid fan, or at least the first one I heard about and actively followed leading up to her release. Very much helped by her amazing demo song, as well as her unique Sugar and Spicy voicebanks... How could you not look forward to her?

While most of my Una knowledge and love is around her Vocaloid4 voicebank, her more recent voicebanks are absolutely crazy. She was already incredibly versatile with her Spicy + Sweet voicebanks, but whatever SynthV has done to her is amazing. She sounds so different yet still very distinctly Una. I've seen her used in genres I never considered she'd sound good in. She can do so much now. It's perfect.

She's had a bunch of designs and official art over the years. The art on this page is her SynthV design, and while I find it incredibly beautiful, I think my favourite design of hers is her Vocaloid6 Sugar design... the colours and theming are right up my alley with the bright colours and the stars and music notes. Absolutely adorable.

My favourite songs!
MEIKA Hime, MEIKA Mikoto

Programs: Vocaloid5
First released: March 30th, 2019
Voice Provider: Kotori Koiwai

Vocaloid5 was the strangest time for Vocaloid, the software. It was so unpopular that basically every company that was making Vocaloid voicebanks decided to jump ship and move their vsynths to other programs. This was ultimately a positive as it led to the rise in popularity of SynthV and CeVIO, but as a result Vocaloid5 received probably the least voicebanks of any vsynth program ever. In this dire time for Vocaloid, there was one thing that remained beautiful and true: MEIKA Hime and Mikoto for Vocaloid5, one(two?) of the only Vocaloids to debut during Vocaloid5. They grabbed my attention right when they were announced, and I've been a fan of them since.

As there are already multiple "twin"/pair-type voicebanks out there, and design-wise they aren't even the only pink and blue pair vsynths, they may not be the most standout... but I have just always loved the MEIKAs. While maybe not "unique", I've always loved their voices- I especially love Hime's more airy vocals, but Mikoto's deeper tone has been used in some impressive ways. So which one is my favourite? I don't know! Their voices are just so nice. They're also illustrated by one of my favourite artists, miwashiba, and I just find their designs to be quite charming. Their genders are unspecified, as they are not human. And I just love characters with horns...

With Haruna Sora having a SynthV bank now, these two are the only Vocaloids stuck on Vocaloid5 (aside from their Gynoid Talk/A.I.VOICE bank, if you want to count those). I don't have any hopes of seeing them get new voicebanks, just to keep my expectations low, but it would be really cool to see them get an upgrade of sorts. They're still really special to me regardless.

UPDATE:
Literally 2 days after publishing this page, A.I Voice 2 voicebanks were announced for both of them. What? While this doesn't mean they'll get new song voicebanks anywhere, I do now have some hopes... Maybe?

REML

Programs: VoiSona, CeVIO
First released: August 11th, 2023
Voice: Wotoha

I've had a long and complicated history of opinions on CeVIO voicebanks. I was not the biggest fan of KAFU during the height of her popularity and I didn't really like what the program did to old voicebanks I liked, such as IA and Yuzuki Yukari. They all just sounded stuffy and the engine noise was overwhelming to me. I'm not sure when everything changed, but at some point, that stuffiness just vanished? And I'm quite fond of them now! And REML has been my favourite since her release. She's based on a preexisting character from something that I know next to nothing about, but she has charmed me.

Honestly, you could replace REML on this page with a variety of other Voisona voicebanks (I'm very fond of LeuR, Chis-A, and Soyogi Soyogi (linked are my favourites with each of them!)), but I have a soft spot for REML. She has a very cutesy tone without being high-pitched, and she wasn't too drowned out by that CeVIO engine stuffiness back when it was worse. She has a cute frilly little outfit. She's also evil, for some reason, and once again, I love characters with horns, real or fake. She is a perfect voicebank for strange cutesy dark songs.

Unfortunately, there's not many big songs for her outside of her impressive demo library, even though her voice really has improved with the CeVIO updates (just compare the first two songs on here to her demos...).. The niche of "cute girl Voisona" seems to currently be taken by Ui, who is probably my least favourite Voisona voicebank, but we live. I would love to see her get used more! Please!!!!!!!!(Weakly)

My favourite songs!
IA

Programs: Vocaloid3, CeVIO AI
First released: January 27th, 2012
Voice: Lia

IA was my first favourite Vocaloid, which makes sense when you consider that I got into Vocaloid around 2014, when IA was basically the next Miku (at least she seemed like it, to a 12 year old obsessed with the Kagerou Project). One of my first Vocaloid songs was A Tale of Six Trillion Years and a Night, I was obsessed with Kagepro and Shuuen No Shiori, and regardless of all of that, she was just everywhere. It makes sense that she was my middle school favourite. I also loved her design. The monochrome and pink... It's just my favourite. I doodled her so much on my 7th grade assignments that I wasn't doing...

She is mostly just here because she was my first favourite, as I don't keep up with her current updates. She's still getting new voicebanks, but I just can't keep up with CeVIO news half the time. It's AWESOME that she's still getting updates!! I'm so glad she's still loved!! I just can't keep up these days. She still holds a special place in my heart and I will click on a song if she's in it, I just could not tell you what's going on over there. Do not use me as an educational reference for CeVIO related projects.

As a result, most of my favourite songs with her are super old (though I included some newer ones as well). Consider this my little nostalgia section... A small selection of my favourite songs from my middle school days... She was there for most of it.
