I've been a Pokemon fan for most of my life, but Elekid was not a Pokemon I considered at all as a kid... until my first time playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, when I thought it would be funny to recruit every single Elekid I ran across in Amp Plains. Why? Just because it's funny looking. I amassed a sizeable army of Elekids, which I never actually used in any part of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon gameplay, because I was bad at the game. (Or good? Elekid isn't really a "strong" pokemon. It doesn't need to be. It's a little baby.)
While my Elekid Army was done entirely as a joke, it really endeared me to Elekid. I mean, look at that face. It's just silly. It's so cute! I like electivire and electabuzz as well, but Elekid is really just the cutest little thing. I love its little :3 expression. I love its roundness. I love its weird big arms. I would love to hold it. It just seems so easy to carry around. I want to.
Most importantly though, Elekid is a little baby animal. It's 2 feet tall and it can't store electricity very well. It likes to swing it's arms around. You can play thunderstorm noises to it to make it happy. It's ADORABLE!!!!
There are not enough Elekid Pokemon cards!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It only has 8 in the 25 years it's existed.... I know it is not the most popular, but I think it deserves more.
However, Elekids most recent card is SO CUTE.

The most perfect thing on this planet, part of what made me really start to love Elekid. It's amazing. Unbelievably shaped. So, so round. It has been my dream for 7 years to own this plush, but unfortunately they go for 100+ dollars now. Can't I dream....?
None of the other Elekid plushes have really gotten to this level of mastery. I think it's the wideness that really makes it. It just looks so incredibly silly. I love how fat its little plug prongs are. It's just so perfectly shaped. A+.
I do own an Elekid plush that I cherish greatly, but I will always dream of the 2010 Pokedoll Elekid Plush....
